Elder Hostages

ELDER HOSTAGES

By Ray Werner
Directed by Marci Woodruff

"Incredibly touching... Susan McGregor-Laine is astonishing. " - Chris Rawson, Pittsburgh Today Live

Three one-act plays, Mum's the Word, Night Song, and Wandering Angus, that open a window to the world of our elders, who share their anger, sadness, resilience and humor.

Featuring Susie McGregor-Laine, David Crawford and Stevie Akers. For these final performances, Chris Josephs & Tom Merit have joined our cast.

  • The elderly McGranangan brothers fight it out with a word game, searching for their father’s dying words. And a childhood secret. What’s the secret? Mum’s the Word.
  • In Night Song, Sally’s love for her desperate Tim helps her remember something that just might save their marriage from a fate, well, worse than death. Even though Sally has Alzheimer’s.
  • In the third play, Jack and Betsy, both with emphysema, meet at a derelict bus stop, waiting to catch the ten after, when the Wandering Angus wanders in and catches them, and changes their lives (with a nod to W. B. Yeats).
