Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company was founded by Mark Clayton Southers in 2003. It began as the resident company of Garfield's Penn Theater, and moved to its current 75-seat space in the downtown Cultural District in January 2005.
Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre Company strives to showcase the works of local playwrights, to develop racially and culturally diverse audiences and to provide an environment for theatre artists (playwrights, directors, actors and technicians) to develop their craft.
